Relgiousness and Holiness

Do you see yourself as someone who is striving for and pursuing holiness?

In this world, there is a tendency to become cultural Christians, rather than holy Christians. Holiness is foundational to being a Christian, without it there is no transformation and you plateau. The difference between religiousness and holiness is this; religiousness is wearing the coat of Christianity, where holiness is living the life of Christianity.

J.I. Packer in  "Discovering Holiness" says this: "This is not a trend that one would have expected, since Scripture insists so strongly that Christians are called to holiness, that God is pleased with holiness but outraged by unholiness, and that without holiness none will see the Lord. But the shift of Christian interest away from the pursuit of holiness to focus on fun and fulfillment, ego-massage, and techniques for present success, and public issues that carry no challenge to one's personal morals, is a fact. To my mind it is a sad and scandalous fact, and one that needs to be reversed."

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Charles Colson in "Loving God" says this "Holiness is the everyday business of every Christian. It evidences itself in the decisions we make and the things we do hour by hour, and day by day."

God wants the Bible to be a mirror for our lives!

James 1:22-25 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18  Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

A strong woman

A strong woman works out every day...
but a woman of strength kneels to pray, keeping her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn't afraid of anything...
but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear.

A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her...
yet a woman of strength gives her best to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same for tomorrow...
a woman of strength realizes life's mistakes...thanking God for the blessings as she capitalizes on them.

A strong woman walks headfirst with no doubt in her mind...
but a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls.

A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face...
but a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that for the journey she'll have enough...
but a woman of strength knows it's in the journey she will become strong.

rock today for Jesus

Love worship songs. Love listening to KLOVE.

Dear God,

I love you, Lord, and I lift my voice to worship you.
Today is the day You have made.
I will rejoice and be glad in it even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
Your perfect love is casting out fear.
I fear no evil for my God is with me; and because God is with me, whom then shall I fear?
No one and nothing.
Because my hope is found in Christ alone.
He is my light, my strength, my song. No guilt in life, no fear in death...this is the power of Christ in me.
From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.
No Power of he'll, no scheme of man, could ever pluck me from His hand.
Till He returns, or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
My comforter, my all in all, here in the love of Christ I stand.
Your love, God, is extravagant.
Your love, oh Lord, reaches to the heavens.
Your faithfulness stretches to the skies.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Even the rocks cry out, even the heavens shout.
All creatures of our God and King lift up your voices and sing with us.
Praise to the Savior, praise to the Lamb of God, praise in all of His splendor, and praise for saving my life.
My God is mighty to save. He rose and conquered the grave.
My Savior loves, my Savior lives, and my Savior's always there for me.
He is the God who was, is, and is always going to be. Glory to God forever!
You gave me breath so I could praise Your great and matchless name all my days.
Lead me on and I will run after You.
Thank you for watching over me and healing me.
Thank you for your abundance of love in my life.

Amen.

Kind of cool to see that the stuff that literally holds us together as a human is in the shape of a cross.
Lord I am listening, I am your servant to your great things on this Earth. Everything holds together in Jesus Christ.
Tell me that as a Christian that doesn't give you goosebumps and make you want to dance and sing HIS praises!

God and Schools

A boy writes a letter to God. "Dear God, why do you let bad things happen in our schools?" God replied " Dear Son, I'm not allowed in your schools."
Christianity is what this country was founded on. It stemmed off of Catholicism. There is nothing wrong with God being in school whether is it my Christian God, your Mormon God, your Allah, your Buddha etc. It will stimulate the getting along of each-other and being accepting of each-others religions and opinions. It will foster relationships that if they were fostered years ago I honestly don't think there would be so much animosity between the religions.

God is on our currency, in our prayers, in the courthouses, etc. So why not have Him in our schools to keep our children safe. We wouldn't have nearly as many bullies, school shootings etc because there would be more respect.
You realize you can't "force" someone to pray, right?... If I were to walk up to you and start praying with you then sure I could pray but there's nothing I could do to make you pray.
Freedom of religion does not mean that one has the right or more superior power to push it down one another throats. It gives you the right to practice your religion as you want.

Does that mean that there are religious fanatics that will push it and force it down your throat, sure but that doesn't mean 100% of them will.

FCA is allowed in schools because it is not ran by the school, it is run by the students.
God is love and everyone needs that. God gave you free will, now you choose how you want to use that gift.

Faith is all you need

Do you know the only people who can demand perfect parents? Perfect children. The only people who can demand a perfect pastor is a perfect church member. The only person who can demand a perfect politician is a perfect citizen! There is never a license for rebellion. There are ways to reason together in a church, home, and government.

There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God. A place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.There is a place of comfort sweet, near to the heart of God. A place where we our Savior meet, near to the heart of God.

It’s not circumstances that have you down; your thoughts about your circumstances have you down. It is possible to be in one of the biggest battles for your life and still be filled with joy and peace and victory – if you simply learn how to choose the right thoughts. Fill your mind with God’s Word.

Things and persons appear to us according to the light we throw
upon them from our own minds. How unconsciously we judge others
by the light that is within ourselves, condemning or approving
them by our own conception of right and wrong, honor and
dishonor! We show by our judgment just what the light within us is. -- Laura Ingalls Wilder

I'm grateful that...
... Noah didn't say, "I don't do floods."
... Joshua didn't say, "I don't do Jerichos."
... David didn't say, "I don't do poems."
... Daniel didn't say, "I don't do lions' dens."
.... Joseph didn't say, "I don't do adoptions."
... Paul didn't say, "I don't do mission trips."
And I'm most grateful that Jesus didn't say, "I don't do crosses."
“I hear religious minded people say all the time with good intentions. ‘God will never place a burden on you so heavy that you cannot possibly carry it. ’Really? My experience is that God will place a burden on you so heavy that you cannot possibly carry it alone. He will break your back and your will. He will buckle your legs until ...you fall flat beneath the crushing weight of your load. All the while He will walk beside you waiting for you to come to the point where you must depend on Him.‘My power is made perfect in your weakness,’ He says, as we strain under our burden.Whatever the burden, it might indeed get worse, but know this-God is faithful. And while we change and get old, He does not. When we get weaker, He remains strong. And in our weakness and humility, He offers us true, lasting, transforming, and undeserved grace.”
