Memorial Day

Memorial Day:  is a federal holiday observed annually in the U.S on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the Unites States Armed Forces. It is formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars.

Veterans Day: formerly Armistice Day, is the annual U.S. holiday that honors our armed service members veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11th every year.

"I thank God for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly
Let it ring

Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives
So we don't have to sacrifice
All the things we love"

"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends" -John 15:13

"Let every nation, whether is wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to ensure the survival and success of liberty." --John F Kennedy

Memorial Day IS NOT a national BBQ day. It is a day to remember the fallen and celebrate their lives.

Memorial Day is a day to remember the memories of those that paid the ultimate price with their lives for our freedom.

Memorial Day isn't just a day you put your flag out and then put it away till the 4th of July. It is a day for those of us that are a military loved one, or a very patriotic American, where we line the yard with flags, where we go to the cemeteries and put flags on the graves and pay our respects to the fallen.

Memorial Day is a day to remember and pray for those that are left behind, to pick up the pieces and try to move on. It is a day to remember the families, the children, the spouses whose worst nightmares unfortunately came true.

A strong woman

A strong woman works out every day...
but a woman of strength kneels to pray, keeping her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn't afraid of anything...
but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear.

A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her...
yet a woman of strength gives her best to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same for tomorrow...
a woman of strength realizes life's mistakes...thanking God for the blessings as she capitalizes on them.

A strong woman walks headfirst with no doubt in her mind...
but a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls.

A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face...
but a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that for the journey she'll have enough...
but a woman of strength knows it's in the journey she will become strong.

10 September 2011

10 years

The sun is rising on another day at war in Afghanistan, where the calendar already reads September 11, 2011.
Our nation's selfless troops, veterans, and military families have treated every day of the past ten years like 9/11.
To the military community and my military family: while your days are filled with danger, sacrifice, and heroism, our hearts are filled with gratitude.
Thank you for your service to our country♥

For the husband who told his wife I love you one last time before his plane went down in a field
For the wife who stopped in the stairs to call her husband to say I will love you forever
For the mothers and fathers who kissed their kids goodbye the morning they died
For the policemen who rushed in with the firemen to help get others out only to die themselves
For the soldiers who fought back and lost their lives.

Today, tomorrow, ten years from now, we will remember.

Times of impact: 8:46 a.m. and 9:02 a.m.
Time the burning towers stood: 56 minutes and 102 minutes.
Time they took to fall: 12 seconds.
2819 dead from 115 different nations.
343 Fireman/paramedics

23 NYPD
37 Port Authority officers.
I WILL NEVER FORGET 09-11-01

rock today for Jesus

Love worship songs. Love listening to KLOVE.

Dear God,

I love you, Lord, and I lift my voice to worship you.
Today is the day You have made.
I will rejoice and be glad in it even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
Your perfect love is casting out fear.
I fear no evil for my God is with me; and because God is with me, whom then shall I fear?
No one and nothing.
Because my hope is found in Christ alone.
He is my light, my strength, my song. No guilt in life, no fear in death...this is the power of Christ in me.
From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.
No Power of he'll, no scheme of man, could ever pluck me from His hand.
Till He returns, or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
My comforter, my all in all, here in the love of Christ I stand.
Your love, God, is extravagant.
Your love, oh Lord, reaches to the heavens.
Your faithfulness stretches to the skies.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Even the rocks cry out, even the heavens shout.
All creatures of our God and King lift up your voices and sing with us.
Praise to the Savior, praise to the Lamb of God, praise in all of His splendor, and praise for saving my life.
My God is mighty to save. He rose and conquered the grave.
My Savior loves, my Savior lives, and my Savior's always there for me.
He is the God who was, is, and is always going to be. Glory to God forever!
You gave me breath so I could praise Your great and matchless name all my days.
Lead me on and I will run after You.
Thank you for watching over me and healing me.
Thank you for your abundance of love in my life.

Amen.
